DESCRIPTION
The Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund was founded in 1941 and consists of over 9,800 participating members from nine unions and associations. Members contribute one quarter of one perfect of their salary to the fund which is divided into three categories: charitable donations, scholarships, and special aid for union/association members and their families. ECECAF has donated over $8,000,000 to charities over the past 15 years, and Ashworth Design owner Christine Fair (formerly Ashworth) was a recipient of an ECECAF post secondary scholarship for her schooling at Grant MacEwan University.
Many print materials have been designed for ECECAF over the past 6 years including posters, brochures, reports, and letterhead, but the largest print installation was a full bus wrap design; generously sponsored by Pattison Advertising to be installed for one year. The bus design featured full coverage print on both the inside and outside of the bus, featuring different stories of where ECECAF dollars have been donated. The design itemized recipient charities including Children’s Wish, Kids With Cancer, Alberta Cancer Foundation, Sign of Hope, Stollery Children’s Hospital, U of A Department of Surgery, United Way, and displayed pictures of families who benefited from the donations. The bus was unveiled at a media event at City Hall and Christine and her father, an ECECAF member, were interviewed about their involvement with ECECAF.
